The Flying Dog Ranch is situated at the base of imposing Mt Sopris in Carbondale, Colorado. It was home to the sacred hunting grounds of the Ute Indians. This ground remains sacred to us today. The land was bountiful, the air pure and the setting spectacular. It nurtured its inhabitants. The Ranch retains these characteristics today. The Utes thrived for centuries in the Roaring Fork and Crystal River Valleys and lived in harmony with nature, family and friends. We aspire to live the same.
Though our paths to fulfillment and sustainability may now be more complex, the peaceful pursuits and desires of the inhabitants of this ground have changed little throughout time. We are merely the “caretakers” of this land. Dedicated to its preservation for those who follow.
We welcome and encourage our family, friends and the community of all who embrace this diversity of ideas to share with us in our “way of life”!
At present, the Flying Dog is the home of award winning craft beers and spirits. Highly acclaimed literature, photography and arts. Grass fed meats, organic foods and culinary delights. Conference facilities to accommodate weddings, yoga retreats and corporate retreats. Set in acres of botanical gardens. World renowned blacksmith ironworks. Six acres of indigenous tree nursery and testing grounds for bio fuel agricultural development.

"My husband and I are outdoor enthusiasts and were searching for a unique site for our wedding. Although we are both from Colorado we were living in California at the time. We discovered Flying Dog Ranch online and the pictures thrilled us. I contacted Lydia and she was enthusiastic, professional and gave me all the information I needed. We booked without seeing the site and when we visited a couple months before the wedding I breathed a happy sigh of relief. Tucked away but close enough to Carbondale and Aspen, Flying Dog is a perfect get-away. The setting is serene and it was helpful to have the ceremony and reception at the same location. The colorful flower palette guarantees beautiful blooms during any summer months and the views of Mt Sopris are amazing! Lydia was accommodating and supplied many extras most sites don't. We couldn't have asked for a better location for our big day!"
